—A Minute of Silence
I spent a lot of time yesterday trying not to think about what day it was, but finally I gave in to remembering, and last night I stepped out onto the deck, looking up at the moon, then towards the Manhattan skyline, and those two beams of light.
I tried to catch them with my phone, but no go. So I decided to capture the still sound of the evening, so different than that night back in 2001.
My minute of silence features the songs of late summer crickets, and a little bit of wind, but also two cars that passed unexpectedly in and out of the soundscape. I couldn’t help but think of them as representatives of those two planes …
